Monochromatism is basically just one colour and all its shades. Pick a colour of your son’s or daughter’s, nephew’s or niece’s massive array of coloured pens, pencils, crayons, etc. Choose the subject or model of your choice and draw with only this particular colour. That’s it. You have just created your first monochromatic drawing/painting. You use the full measure of your colour for creating a shadow effect and go easy and very light for your lit areas or highlights.
